We’re Passionate About Parks
NPAQ advocates for the protection, expansion, effective management and presentation of national parks. We offer a growing Kids in Parks program, a bushwalking and outdoor recreation activity program, and opportunities to participate in community conservation and Citizen Science projects. We support the development and application of scientific and professional knowledge in advancing national parks, protected areas and nature conservation.
Kids in Parks
To encourage families and young people to interact with, learn from and appreciate our natural environment, NPAQ is now hosting Kids in Parks activity days every school holidays. Taking your children out into nature is a chance for excitement and lifelong learning, but it also significantly improves physical and mental well-being. The benefits of children interacting with nature include:
- positive mental health outcomes
- physical health benefits
- enhanced intellectual development
- a better understanding of the plants and animals we share our planet with, and
- a stronger sense of concern and care for the environment.
Activities and Events
NPAQ offers a range of bushwalking and other activities for members, guests and the public. Activities may include social events; half-day, full-day and overnight walks; birdwatching; canoeing; camps; extended excursions; citizen science events and fun events in national park and conservation reserves.
Support Us
Since 1930, NPAQ has brought together people who share an appreciation for national parks and the vital role they play in conserving our unique natural environment. With your support, we can continue our work supporting the appreciation, expansion and better management of national parks in Queensland.
