Coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef - National Parks Association of Queensland

Over the Easter break, Professor Terry Hughes – from James Cook University and convener of the National Coral Bleaching Taskforce – undertook a survey of coral bleaching across the Northern Reef by helicopter.


Professor Hughes says he found the worst bleaching in the region he has ever seen.


Professor Hughes live Tweeted the 4 day mission, with images and updates from the air.


The survey found that 95% of the reef’s in the pristine North are severely bleached.
