Outing Report
Arriving at Berrinba Wetlands was a little cool but a beautiful sunny morning. Runners and dog walkers were already using the walking track around the lagoon on the 2.7-kilometer circuit. !5 members and 2 guests started on our walk seeking areas of sunshine to enjoy a little warmth. Following our walk, we found all the walkers had left and we settled down for morning tea. Several people left for other commitments while some people stayed on for lunch. Close by we were entertained by some young girls dancing pacific Island traditional dances. A wonderful outing was enjoyed. Birds sighted: –
Australian Wood Duck, Pacific Black Duck, Bar-shouldered Dove, Fan-tailed Cuckoo, Dusky Moorhen, Eurasian Coot, Australasian Swamphen, Masked Lapwing, Black-fronted Dotterel, Comb-crested Jacana, Australasian Darter, Little Pied Cormorant, Little Black Cormorant, Pied Cormorant, Australian Pelican, Great Egret, Intermediate Egret, Striated Heron, Australian White Ibis, Black Kite, Whistling Kite, White-bellied Sea-Eagle, Little Corella, Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Pale-headed Rosella, Rainbow Lorikeet, Variegated Fairywren, Superb Fairywren, Red-backed Fairywren, Yellow-faced Honeyeater, Noisy Miner, Scarlet Honeyeater, Brown Honeyeater, Blue-faced Honeyeater, Noisy Friarbird, Striated Pardalote, White-throated Gerygone, Black-faced Cuckooshrike, Golden Whistler, Grey Butcherbird, Pied Butcherbird, Australian Magpie, Pied Currawong, Willie Wagtail, Grey Fantail, Magpie-lark, Torresian Crow, Eastern Yellow Robin, Silvereye, Red-browed Finch.
The Wetlands are fed by a number of drainage lines and Scrubby Creek, which flows from west to east eventually flowing into Slacks Creek. The Wetlands provide deep water habitat for waterbirds and shoreline habitat for waders.

Meet: 7.30am at The Interpretive Centre, Wayne Goss Drive, Berrinba Wetlands. UBD 241 C18
Directions: Heading south on Beaudesert Road 13, after crossing over Logan Motorway take left exit into Browns Plains Road 94. Continue on Browns Plains Road for approximately 5kms. Wayne Goss Drive is on your left after passing Logan Metro Sports Park on right.
Bring: Hat, sunglasses, sunburn cream, personal first aid kit, enclosed shoes, binoculars, camera, chair, insect repellent, soap, hand sanitizer, face mask, morning tea, lunch, and any other necessary personal items. There are toilets and shelter sheds available.
