The Pied Butcherbird are common throughout mainland Australia in dryer forests and woodlands. Butcherbirds are carnivorous and will hunt anything from small reptiles, frogs and even other birds. They have even been know to pull pet birds (canaries and finches) through their cage wires. The often hunt alone however they have been know to make hunting parties that consist of a few adults and several younger birds.
IUCN Status: Least concern
