Dowse Lagoon is a small freshwater lagoon in the heart of the suburban area of Sandgate. There is a paved path approximately 1.4km featuring several viewing decks around what was earlier known as Sandgate’s Second Lagoon.
Dowse Lagoon was named in 1975 after Thomas Dowse, an English convict, merchant and Town Clerk of Brisbane.
Dowse Lagoon was nominated as a Ramsar site in 1993.
There are public toilets by the Dowse Lagoon car parking area.

Bring: Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, enclosed shoes, binoculars, chair, morning tea and personal first aid kit.
