The Queensland Tourism and Conservation Alliance (QTCA) is a non-partisan alliance of peak tourism and conservation bodies advocating for increased and strategic investment in Queensland’s protected area estate, with NPAQ’s CEO Chris Thomas as the current chair. QTCA supports the Queensland Government’s vision of a world-class protected area system and a thriving nature-based tourism sector. In February 2026, the QTCA submitted a considered proposal for the 2026–2027 State Budget that would provide for the necessary expansion of Queensland’s Protected Areas Estate, support increasing nature-based tourism and park visitation in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and provide world-class management for our protected areas.
