2021 Twilight Celebration

Report on the Twilight Celebrations on 14 February 2021

On a fine but cloudy afternoon 26 members met at Leslie Patrick Park, Everton Hills, we set up in an exclusive corner of the park with a treed backdrop of Kedron Brook. After the formalities of the signing of the Attendance Sheet and the Covid enquiries, the majority of members chose to join Len for a walk along the Kedron Brook walkway for a couple of kilometres, stopping now and then to admire the creek. The opportunity to do some bird watching was not missed by some members. A few members rested their weary legs and stayed for a chat.
Retracing our steps back to the park, it was time to “pop the corks” as the nibbles were being handed around. Dinner consisted of a mixed chicken salad followed by choc ripple coffee cups. All courses of the meal were pre-packaged by the leaders to accommodate for the Covid safe hygiene regulations.
This activity was a great opportunity for members to catch up, with lots of chatting and reminiscing. Thanks everyone for again making this afternoon a successful and friendly celebration. Thankfully, even with dark clouds overhead, it did not rain on our party.

This year we will celebrate on the north side of Brisbane at Leslie Patrick Park, Everton Hills. As this is also Valentine’s Day, you may wish to treat yourself or a loved one to an evening out. We are hoping for a balmy afternoon as we stroll west along Kedron Brook. If you prefer, you may wish to sit and chat with old or new friends or explore the creek in the immediate vicinity. We have a contingency plan if it decides to “rain on our party”. The program will follow the tried and tested format of a walk, nibbles and bubbly/juice and a hearty snack with dessert. If you have dietary requests, please advise the leaders.

Nominations: Please nominate your intention to join us as soon as possible via the NPAQ website. Due to our unpredictable Covid-19 life, we are asking that you do not pay until the 5 February 2021. If you are unable to register on the website, contact the leader.
