Birdwatching – 2017 – Maroochy Bushland Botanical Gardens – 23rd April

Sixteen members of the NPAQ Bird Group visited Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanical Garden for the first time. These beautiful 82 hectare gardens showcase plants native to the Sunshine Coast in a mix of eucalypt open forest and creek-side rainforest, featuring lagoons, rocky and palm filled gullies. The gardens have evolved over many years by an army of volunteers including two NPAQ members and Council workers. Tracks lead through the trees to numerous grassed open gardens with exciting artworks to discover. Some interesting birds were seen and also attracting our group was the the variety of vegetation, some flowering. Our walk concluded with morning tea followed by lunch. 21 birds were sighted and 7 heard.
