Mt Ngungun & Trachyte Circuit

In ideal weather conditions, six walkers climbed the steep, rough track from the carpark to the top of Mt Ngungun for great 3600 views of the surrounding countryside and morning tea. In the clear air, it was possible to see as far south as Brisbane and north to the Sunshine Coast. A short drive to the Mt Tibrogargin carpark brought the group to the start of the Trachyte Circuit. Here, the slopes were gentler but the day had warmed considerably, bringing beads of sweat to the foreheads of the walkers. The area was also quite dry, boots raising puffs of dust as the walkers strode forward. After a steady climb, the group was rewarded with great views from the Jack Ferris Lookout. From here, it was downhill to a creek for lunch beside a tannin-stained waterhole. Gentle grades were climbed on the track around Mt Tibrogargin to Mt View lookout at the start of track that ascended the mountain. Then it was downhill to the carpark and a short drive to coffee and cake in Glasshouse Mountains Village. A great day enjoyed by all.
