Twilight Celebration – Bowman Park, Bardon

Report on the Twilight Celebrations on 30 January 2022

A change of venue from Bowman Park, Bardon to the Lowry residence at Everton Hills was instigated due to the unfavourable weather forecast and lack of large shelter sheds.

Even though numbers were down this year mainly because of COVID concerns, 17 members social distanced in the Lowry’s roomy downstairs area. As the predicted wet weather did not eventuate, Len led 11 members on a walk through nearby Teralba Park and along Kedron Brook while the remaining members enjoy a chat.

Happy hour followed with the usual bubbly, juice and nibbles.  Main meal was a corn meat, pickle and salad roll. A black forest individual cup dessert and tea and coffee finished the meal. All courses of the meal were pre-packaged by the leader to accommodate for the COVID safe hygiene regulations.

Much to everyone’s dismay because it upset all the chatting, Laurelle conducted a quiz about Queensland National Parks.

This event was a great opportunity for members to catch up, with lots of chatting and reminiscing. Thanks everyone for again making this afternoon a successful and friendly celebration.

—————————————————————————————

This year we will celebrate on the western side of inner city Brisbane at Bowman Park, Bardon. We are hoping for a balmy afternoon with plenty of chatter and laughter. This park is nestled in Bardon’s foothills and is a peaceful shady picnic ground. As the park is flanked by Ithaca Creek on one side, Len will lead the more energetic members on a 2 kilometre creekside walk (partly pathway and partly bush track – some uneven ground).
If you prefer, you may wish to sit and chat with old or new friends or enjoy a stroll in the immediate park area.
The program will follow the tried and tested format of a walk, nibbles and bubbly/juice and a hearty snack with dessert. If you have dietary requests, please advise the leader.
