Warrie Circuit, Springbrook National Park

Description: The Warrie Circuit in Springbrook National Park, explores the Canyon Section of the park. The walk will begin at Canyon Lookout which overlooks the area, providing excellent views of the canyon as well as several waterfalls tumbling over the edge of the escarpment. It will help us appreciate the name, “Warrie”, an aboriginal word meaning “rushing water”. Our journey will be anticlockwise around the circuit.

From the Canyon Lookout we’ll head towards Tallanbana Picnic Area, cross the creek feeding Twin Falls then follow the rack down into the canyon crossing several creeks and water falls to the lowest point of our walk at the “Meeting of the Waters”, the place where the creeks draining the canyon and plateau above meet to flow into Little Nerang Creek (East Branch). A good place to pause to rest and enjoy lunch.

After lunch, well zigzag up the side of the canyon to return to our vehicles and a well-earned coffee before heading home.

Please do not attend this activity if you are feeling unwell.

Walk Grading: Intermediate. 17km – a good level of fitness is required especially for the final leg. I expect this section to be quite slow with frequent rest breaks.
