Birdwatching – 2018 – Axis Place 25th March

17 members attended NPAQ first outing to Axis Place section of Dan Stiller Reserve, Larapinta. We were fortunate to have a fine, clear, sunny, although very humid morning after overnight rain in some areas of Brisbane. Surprisingly, the track was in good condition after recent unseasonal March rain. Bird activity in this section of Dan Stiller Reserve is quieter than the Forestdale section of Dan Stiller Reserve with only 26 species seen and 4 heard. Bird List: Hardhead(4), Darter(1), Little Pied Cormorant(2), Little Black Cormorant(2), Australian Pelican(2), Black Kite(1), Bar-shouldered Dove(h), Little Corella(2), Sulphur-crested Cockatoo(3), Rainbow Lorikeet(2), Scaly-breasted Lorikeet (2), Pale-headed Rosella(h),Superb Fairy-wren(6), Striated Pardalote(5), Noisy Miner(3), Lewin’s Honeyeater(3), Brown Honeyeater(4), Eastern Whipbird(h), Rufous Whistler(h), Magpie-lark(1), Willie Wagtail(1), Spangled Drongo(1), Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike(2), Grey Butcherbird(1), Pied Butcherbird(1), Australian Magpie (h), Pied Currawong(2), Torresian Crow(4), Double-barred Finch(3), Welcome Swallow(2).
