Birdwatching – 2018 – Berrinba Wetlands 23rd May

Berrinba Wetland is a 120 hectare reserve managed by the Logan City Council. The wetlands are the result of sand and gravel mining after World War II and the Council has undertaken extensive weed eradication and revegetation. A small group of keen walkers set off on a balmy autumn morning along the 3 kilometre paved Greater Wetland Walk. Stops were made along the track at the Wetland Outlook, three substantial steel bridges and a very impressive suspension bridge. One hundred wildlife boxes have been positioned throughout the reserve. Water birds and bush birds were observed along the way. Morning tea was enjoyed in the adjoining Demeio Park. We returned to the start and visited the Interpretive Centre before having lunch at the very well appointed picnic ground at Wayne Goss Drive. A very enjoyable social day out.
