With the wind forecast to be strong, eight people arrived at Bullocky Rest. With buffeting winds, we decided to drive back to Forgan Cove, an inlet protected from the winds. Great decision as only a gentle breeze was felt at times. We followed a fire trail parallel with the lake’s foreshore for some distance before returning to the carpark. Morning tea and lunch were enjoyed in a newly erected shelter shed in full sunshine and hardly a breeze. At the same time, 50 kilometers an hour winds were recorded at the Brisbane airport. The bush birds were light on but numerous water birds were observed sheltering from the winds. A total of 20 birds were sighted and 4 birds were heard. A bird list can be obtained from the leader. What was thought to be a shocking day turned out to be very enjoyable.
