This year’s Easter Camp at Yandilla on the Mt Kilcoy road provided an idyllic setting for our bird lovers, walkers and tourers. The weather could not have been better with warm days and cool, clear night skies for stargazing, prior to moonrise. Bird watchers were treated an abundance of bird life with glossy black cockatoos frequently visiting our camp area to entertain us. The walkers had an adventure or two exploring ridges and creek lines on and beside the property. While others ventured out to Peach Trees for a short walk and a visit to Jimna fire tower and the historical museum, with a passionate presentation from the volunteer in attendance on the plight of the iconic heritage listed Jimna tower. A trip to the Bellthorpe National Park and the Stoney Creek waterhole was a picturesque place to explore a little and laze away a few hours by the water over lunch before visiting a quiet backwater of the Somerset Dam. Evening entertainment consisted of an outdoor cinema movie, a night at the Kilcoy Exchange Hotel for a spit roast dinner, and a night of fun and frivolity with a national park and Aussie animal themed Pictionary. A great weekend with good company was had by all. Special thanks to all participants for making it a successful weekend, with special thanks to leaders, Tony Parsons, Ian Peacock and Dave Jones.
