Leaders Report. Nine members arrived and were keen to start the walk. This activity was held after the Mount Glorious region had an extended period of rainfall. The area was very green and damp. As the Maiala picnic area was undergoing a total redevelopment, we met in the Western picnic area. It was decided to walk to the Western Window lookout and back before morning tea. The track past the Western Window was closed due to a landslide so that walk was “out of the question” for today. On our return, we had a pleasant morning tea and celebrated a birthday before we set off along the road to join Browns Road to start the walk to Greens Falls. We took the track to the Cypress Grove before rejoining the track to Greens Falls. Some of the boards on the boardwalk were marked with spray-paint and we debated if this was marking a future project to upgrade the boardwalk. There was a good flow of water over Greens Falls. The rainforest was a picture with lush vegetation everywhere. We enjoyed lunch back at the Western picnic ground and finished the afternoon at the Mount Glorious Cafe for coffee before we dispersed to find our way home. We all had a pleasant day with great friends. Thanks everyone for supporting our walk.
……………………………….
We will assemble at the Maiala Section picnic area for a quick morning tea before we set off on the 4.3 kilometre Greens Falls circuit track. The track and extensive boardwalks are easy to negotiate and it is not long before we will be at Greens Falls. With the recent rain these falls should be rushing. We will return by the Cypress Grove track. After lunch we will do the short 1.2 kilometre track to the viewing point at the Western Window and return. A coffee break at the Mount Glorious coffee shop can be factored in before we return to Brisbane.
