Trip Report
3 members and 2 non-members met at the National Park Information Centre carpark on a clear and mild winter’s morning. We ascended the Caves Track (though initially it is a gradually descent) where we met a large number of walkers searching for fungi on and beside the track. Once the group members pointed out these interesting and colourful mushrooms, we, too, began to search for and locate some fungi.
Leaving the rainforest and the Caves Track at the saddle, we headed uphill and once again entered the rainforest proceeding along the Border Track to the Coomera Seat and onto the path heading towards Tullawallul. (While walking along the Border Track, we were passed by a number of runners, some of whom were practising for an upcoming annual event). Tullawallal, surrounded by Antarctic Beech trees is a mystical and peaceful area where we spent some time resting and enjoying the surroundings before continuing along the loop back to the forest entrance. A stop at the Tea House provided a break before we commenced our descent back to the cars via the shortest route.
