Birdwatching – 2017 – Moggill Conservation Park – 19th February

This is a quiet area with varying vegetation that offers good birding sites. There are graded bush tracks, some a little hilly but not difficult. There are NO TOILETS at this location.

Sunday 19th February saw the NPAQ Bird Group walk the tracks of Moggil Regional Park in the suburb of Anstead. Nine members and one guest arrived following light rain. With overcast skies the bushland was damp with several birds keeping the group occupied as they tried to view them in the overhead trees. Near the conclusion of the walk the sun broke through the clouds making the air hot and humid. We all retired to Brooker Place Park, Bellbowrie on the banks of the Brisbane River with a refreshing breeze for morning tea followed by lunch. 15 birds sighted and 10 birds heard. Emerald Dove, Common Bronzewing, Wonga Pigeon H, Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Rainbow Lorikeet H, Pheasant, Coucal H, Sacred Kingfisher H, Rainbow Bee-eater H, White-throated Treecreeper, White-browed Scrubwren, Large-billed Scrubwren, Striated Pardalote H, Lewin’s Honeyeater, Bell Miner H, Noisy Miner, Eastern Whipbird, Australasian Figbird, Pied Butcherbird H, Australian Magpie H, Spangled Drongo, Rufus Fantail, Torresian Crow, Restless Flycatcher H, Spectacled Monarch, Eastern Yellow Robin
