Brisbane Botanical Gardens Gathering

A group of 21 arrived at the lookout with a excellent view of the city skyline for a shared morning tea. There was a lot of reminiscing by the group of long term members on outings which have been shared over the years. It was a short walk to the National Australia Remembers Freedom Wall and although this has been in the Gardens since 1995, it was the first time some of us had visited this site. We relocated to the shelter shed in the Australian Plant Communities garden for lunch before our walk. Prompting by the leader encouraged the group to do a short walk around the lake through the subtropical rainforest, open eucalypt forest and melaleuca wetland. This is a well posted walk with signage noting plants collected and named by Matthew Flinders on his circumnavigation of Australia in the ship “Investigator”. It was agreed that these catch-up meetings were enjoyed by all and members would like to see a program for 2017. The leaders would like to thanks everyone for making the day a success.
