Vegetation Management Group June 2020

The Vegetation Management Group is a monthly volunteer-based project to remove lantana and weeds in the Boombana and Jollys Lookout sections of D’Aguilar National Park, west of Brisbane. (click here for locality map)

Originally started by Honorary Protector Les Weller in 1986, and with the support of QPWS, the project has been managed by NPAQ since 1990.

In 1995, the NPAQ Vegetation Management Group was awarded the John Herbert Award by the National Trust for Excellence in Heritage Conservation Works or Action.

Where to meet: 9am the lower car park of Jolly’s Lookout of D’Aguilar National Park.

Directions: Take the Mt Nebo-Mt Glorious Rd through The Gap, to the car park of Jolly’s Lookout in D’Aguilar National Park.

Jolly’s Lookout is approx 15km (18mins) drive past Walkabout Creek Visitor Centre.

What to bring: Gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, insect repellent, sunscreen, water, morning tea, and lunch.

THERE IS NO NEED TO REGISTER FOR THIS WORK. JUST TURN UP.

This activity will be conducted in keeping with current Covid-19 health department guidelines regarding social distancing and good hygiene practices. Be aware that, if you are over 70 (over 50 for people of indigenous background), and/or have co-morbidities, you are at greater risk of Covid-19.
