Mt Cordeau & Bare Rock, Cunningham’s Gap, Main Range National Park

The walking track reopened earlier in the year following the severe fires and torrential rain that devastated the National Park in 2019.  The tracks and the surrounding area were cleared and the forest is regenerating.  The walk is a 11.8km return trip to Bare Rock.  The route to Mt Cordeau Lookout -on the way to Bare Rock-is on a gently sloping graded track. It proceeds near the cliff edge along a narrow path, then reenters the rainforest of moss covered trees.  During the walk, we’ll pass the memorial to Allan Cunningham, observe “How Green is my Valley” from the Fassifern Valley Lookout, climb past the base of the old gold mine to a lookout at the head of the shaft, wonder at the sight from the Mt Cordeau lookout and enjoy lunch on Bare Rock.
