Birdwatching – 2020 – Golds Scrub Lane, Samsonvale 19th July

This is our first walk to this area located at the western end of the lake where good bird sightings have been reported.  The walk will commence at the car park next to the Samsonvale Cemetery end of Gold Scrub Lane at 8.00 am. UBD Reference Map 86 F11.

Directions: – From Brisbane take the Samford Road through Ferny Grove into Samford Village.    At the roundabout before the village turn right into Main Street then follow Mount Samson Road north towards Dayboro for about 13 Kms.  Turn right into Golds Scrub Lane, 86 E-11.

If travelling from Strathpine, turn west into Samsonvale Road, UBD Map 98 Q/R17.  Continue west and this road changes name to Winn Road.  After 18.3 kms you reach the intersection with Mt Samson Road, UBD86 C18.  Turn right and travel north for 3.7 kms to Gold Scrub Lane.

From Petrie travel west on Dayboro Road Map 98 L-3 to Dayboro and turn south at the Hotel Tee intersection Map 65 P-13. Travel for 9.4 klms and turn left into Gold Scrub Lane.

The nearest toilet facility is at Apex Park, some 7 kms north along Mount Samson Road where we will have morning tea, UBD Map 66 A-19. There are no seating facilities at these venues, so bring a chair.

Bring: Hat, sunglasses, personal first aid kit, enclosed shoes, binoculars, camera, CHAIR, insect repellent, soap, hand sanitizer, morning tea, lunch (optional), and any other necessary personal items.

This activity will be conducted in keeping with current Covid-19 health department guidelines regarding social distancing and good hygiene practices. Be aware that, if you are over 70 (over 50 for people of indigenous background), and/or have co-morbidities, you are at greater risk of Covid-19. If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend this activity.”
