BIRDWATCHING -2021- ROSS Road PARKLANDS – UPPER KEDRON – 18th April 2021

Activity Report

24 people were nominated for this event and we met on a beautiful sunny autumn morning. Following a night of rain, the countryside looked bright and lush. The bushland reserve was a former dairy farm and acquired by the Brisbane City Council who has spent a lot of time and money developing the area with trees, shrubs, and infrastructure. In years to come, this park will be a great asset for Brisbane’s northside recreation.

We walked along a track beside Cedar Creek which drains from the neighboring D’Aguilar National Park. This track passed maturing trees and recently planted vegetation. We diverted up a slope to a dam to view several water birds. Back on the track we soon arrived at another two dams. One dam had flowering water Lillies around the sides and reflections in the water were special.

We relocated to a nearby parkland for morning tea where many stories were shared. Several people remained for lunch. Overall a very enjoyable day. Should you require a list of bird sightings, please contact the leader.
