The rainbow lorikeet is among the most colourful small lorikeets in Australia. At dusk in eastern and northern Australia, massive flocks will gather at their favourite roosting place, usually in a large gum tree or a native flowering species. Unlink most birds, lorikeets don’t eat seeds; instead, they use lick their long, brush-like tongue to soak up nectar from flowers. IUCN Status: Decreasing
