We’re Passionate About Parks

NPAQ advocates for the protection, expansion, effective management and presentation of national parks.

We celebrate getting kids out into our parks and reserves, and we operate Parks Connect Junior Ranger and Parks Connect Cadet Ranger programs, in collaboration with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) school holiday programs, from Gateway Visitor Centres – David Fleay Wildlife Park and Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre. We also get kids, teens and adults engaged on-park, either as ‘Roaming Rangers’ or during our Park of the Month celebrations.

NPAQ also hosts frequent bushwalking, outdoor recreation, Volunteer Campground Hosting, Volunteer Ranger opportunities, and the chance to participate in community conservation and citizen science. We support the development and application of scientific and professional knowledge in advancing national parks, protected areas and nature conservation.

Go wild with Parks Connect Programs …

In late 2024, NPAQ received a grant from the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation to work with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) to deliver an exciting Parks Connect program, including Junior Ranger events and Cadet Ranger events, Volunteer Rangers and Campground Hosts throughout South East Queensland in 2025.

Junior and Cadet Ranger events run from two QPWS Gateway Visitor Centres:

‘Roaming’ Parks Connect Junior Ranger and Cadet Ranger events also run in select SEQ parks as part of Park of the Month celebrations.
